Raise a Glass to Rebuild Riley’s Pour House Fund
June 24, 2025
Introduction
The Raise a Glass to Rebuild Riley’s Pour House is a voluntary association of individuals dedicated to raising money and providing support for the reconstruction of Riley’s Pour House (“Pour House”) in Carnegie, which was destroyed by a catastrophic fire on November 14, 2024.
We recognize that Riley’s is a center of Irish culture not just for the residents of Carnegie, PA but for the entire Pittsburgh area, and we wish to assist the owners and employees of the Pour House with expenses related to the re-construction and re-creation of the Pour House on its former location. While we are aware that certain re-construction costs will be offset by insurance payments, many other costs – including insurance deductibles, soft costs such as architectural and other professional fees, new decorations and furnishings, new equipment and other items will be either not fully covered by insurance or will simply be “out-of-pocket” in nature and borne by the owners of the Pour House. Our goal is to relieve some of that expense burden from the owners of the Pour House as they re-create this beloved hub for food, gathering and live music.
We are not an official nonprofit organization, corporation, or 501(c)(3), but we are committed to transparency, accountability, and the responsible use of the funds that are donated or otherwise raised (e.g., through fundraisers) to help the owners and employees of the Pour House in their re-building efforts. Raise a Glass to Rebuild Riley’s Pour House will be operated by a committee of volunteers (the “Committee”).
Our goal is to ensure that every dollar donated, and all net proceeds from fundraising events, goes directly to re-building efforts. We also strive to provide clarity on how funds will be managed. The following outlines the practices and procedures that will govern the use of the donated funds.
1. Fund Allocation and Transparency
- • Segregated Bank Account: Friends of the Pour House has opened a dedicated bank account at First National Bank, and all funds raised through events, donation or otherwise will be deposited in that account (the “Account”). All funds raised or donated through Raise a Glass to Rebuild Riley’s Pour House event will be deposited into this segregated account and all funds dispensed to assist with the re-building efforts will be disbursed from this account.
- • 100% of the funds raised will be directed toward assisting the owners and employees of the Pour House in their efforts to rebuild the Pour House. All cash donations will be allocated directly to the re-building efforts of the Pour House.
- • No administrative fees will be charged by the Committee for fundraising activities. All efforts are voluntary and made by individuals within the Committee.
- • Third party fundraising expenses: The Committee may pay certain expenses to third parties in connection with fundraising. These expenses include expenses charged by fundraising platforms (e.g., GoFundMe) or for direct expenses related to fundraising events (cost of non-donated items).
2. Financial Reporting
- • Donors will receive regular updates on the total funds raised and how funds are being used. A breakdown of the funds allocated to specific purposes will be provided.
- • A final report will be published and shared with all donors once the fundraising efforts conclude. This will include an accounting of all donations received, the expenses incurred, and the final distribution of funds to victims.
3. Oversight and Accountability
- • Disbursement of Funds: No funds will be disbursed without the submission of: (a) a bona fide invoice from a contractor, vendor, supplier or service provider for a product or service which is not otherwise covered by insurance. If the expense is only partially covered by insurance, the relevant portion of the insurance documentation will be attached to the invoice to document the shortfall, and only the amount of the shortfall will be paid through the account. If the funds are to reimburse a third party for a direct payment to a contractor, vendor, supplier or service provider, the third party must provide proof of payment along with the corresponding invoice.
- • Check Signing: No funds will be disbursed except by check signed by two (2) members of the Committee so designated by the Committee as check signers. No more than one (1) member with check signing authority shall be a member of or related to (by blood or marriage) Riley’s Pour House ownership.
- • Undisbursed Funds: Any funds not disbursed or otherwise not needed by the completion of the re-construction process will be distributed pro-rata to the employees of the Pour House (as of the date of the fire) to assist them with living expenses, etc.
4. Communication with Donors
- • Raise a Glass to Rebuild Riley’s Pour House will maintain open and consistent communication with all donors through e-mail updates and updates on a website and social media.
- • A dedicated contact person is available for any questions or concerns regarding the use of donated funds. You can reach them at rachel@thepriory.com.
5. Privacy and Confidentiality
- • The personal information of donors and recipients will be treated with the utmost respect and confidentiality. We will not share or distribute any personal data without prior consent, except as required for the distribution of funds.
6. Regular Updates
- • Updates will be provided regularly on how the funds are being used and the status of fire recovery efforts. Donors will have the opportunity to ask questions and receive timely responses.
